The online poker community heroically demonstrated just how much heart they’ve got, and it was impressive to say the least.  Coming through with over $1.5 million in aide to Haiti, online poker enthusiasts are commended for their generosity and compassion in focusing a great deal of time, effort, money and selfless character on helping those in need.  Players at Full Tilt Poker, one of the leading online poker rooms, generously brought in 22,875 donations totaling $293,211.  Full Tilt Poker then went on to match the donations of their humanitarian customers to bring the total donation from their poker room to $586,423.  Kudos to Full Tilt Poker! 

Another heavy weight contributor is Poker Stars, the world’s largest online poker room.  Poker Stars set up a special account named Haiti Fund in which players could transfer funds from their own accounts into this donations account.  Poker Stars is then matching all contributions by players.  Cake Poker is another top dog that played a major role in collecting donations for aid to Haiti and matching donations.  This massive display of generosity from the online poker community is a tribute to the industry and deserves to be commended.  We are honored to salute each player and poker room that was involved.  The figures mentioned here don’t include the private donations made by several poker pros to groups such as the Red Cross and UNICEF.  All in all, the online poker community came through for the Haitians, and they can be proud of their success as a collective community.
