Don’t Bet Like A Girl
Something I have been noticing is many players do not capitalize on the full potential of their hand in limit poker. Meaning, they have a very good hand after the flop and come out betting, but when they get reraised they slow back down in fear of losing to the 1 possible hand out there that could beat them. Let me break it down for you. 2 players are in the hand, we will call them Jack and Brian. Now Jack bets preflop and Brian raised preflop, then Jack reraised so Brian just called. The flop came out 2d 9h and ks. This is a $5 $10 Limit game by the way, now Jack who is first to act comes out betting $5 and Brian raised, then Jack reraised, then Brian capped. Turn brings the kd. Jack bets $10 and is raised by Brian, however now Jack just calls. River comes 3 clubs and Jack checks to Brian who naturally bet $10 and Jack just called.
Now when you see the hands each one was holding you will understand how Jack played his hand wrong. Brian flips over big slick and Jack flips over pocket 99 to make a boat. Now, the only hand out there that could beat Jack was quad Kings, and Jack quit raising because he thought he was beat by the quads. I even felt compelled to ask Jack after the hand why he didn’t come back over the top and he said he thought he was beat. And I see this all the time at the tables, people have almost the nuts in limit poker, yet they let some agressive player slow them down with the reraises because there is a chance they might lose to a higher full house or a straight flush. All I can tell you is if you push and push when you have those premium hands, you will make far more money than you will by betting it like a girl. Online Poker
